Disc golf is scored like golf: count every throw, and the fewest throws wins. Throw from the tee, then from where your disc lands, marking your lie with a mini marker or the disc itself. The player farthest from the target usually throws first. Out of bounds costs a penalty throw. Inside the 10-meter putting circle, you must show balance behind your marker after you release, so no falling or jump putts.
These basics come from the PDGA Official Rules of Disc Golf.
Scoring
Each throw counts as a stroke. Par is the expected number of throws for a hole.
Order of play
On the tee, the best score on the last hole throws first. After that, the player farthest from the target throws.
Marking your lie
Mark where your disc landed with a mini marker, or throw from behind the disc. One point of contact must be behind the marker when you release.
Putting circle
Inside 10 meters of the target, you must show full balance behind your marker after release. Outside it, step and jump putts are allowed.
Out of bounds
A disc that lands out of bounds costs one penalty throw. Play continues from where it went out or from another option set by the course.
